Tompkins County's Role
Tompkins County receives Federal funding from the Federal Transit Administration (FTA). The County is responsible for complying with Federal regulations and making sure other agencies under contract with the County comply too. Tompkins Consolidated Area Transit, Inc. (TCAT) receives the largest amount of Federal transit funding through the County. The County provides Federal grants to GADABOUT Transportation Services, Inc., which operates ADA Paratransit for TCAT; and Cornell Cooperative Extension of Tompkins County, Inc., which operates Way2Go. Further, the County manages other FTA grant programs (JARC and New Freedom ) to support mobility services of other agencies.
